Watch the NRCS International Year of Soils Video for October: Soil-The Producer! 2015 is the International Year of Soils! And NRCS is celebrating. NRCS joins groups across the world to celebrate International Year of Soils in 2015. The 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly designated 2015 for the yearlong soils celebration as a way to increase understanding of the importance of soil for food security and essential ecosystem functions. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations is heading up efforts along with the Global Soil Partnership.   Soil provides us with so much. Think about the things that we touch, taste, and rely on each and every day. How many of these activities and items depend on soil for their existence? For October's International Year of Soils theme, Soils and the Products We Use, our video explores the daily activities and common items that we often take for granted, but that we wouldn't have without soil. Soil gives us food, shelter, and clothing. Without it, life would be difficult, if not impossible. So, check out the latest video to see nineteen things that we come in contact with before we even leave for work in the morning.
